Michael Prince Philips writes adventurous and fantastical fiction, with a particular love for the short story form. His fiction has been praised by Publishers Weekly and Kirkus, and his short stories have appeared in Heater, Raven Chronicles, and other magazines.

He grew up in Egypt and studied medicine before working in family medicine and training in psychiatry. He also studied political science at the American University in Cairo and at the Monterey Institute of International Studies in California, where he earned a master’s degree in global affairs and international security. After the Egyptian Revolution of 2011, he settled in Canada, where he studied English and philosophy at the University of Toronto and worked as a baker, security guard, intern at the NATO Council, and ER nurse.
